Contact the Press Office
The MRC press office is the link between MRC scientists and the media. The team provides the press with access to MRC scientists' expertise by publicising research discoveries and finding experts to comment on breaking news. We handle enquiries from print, online and broadcast journalists, documentary makers and press officers from other organisations. The press office also provides corporate information and comment to the media and reports on recent research findings on the MRC news page.

For MRC funded scientists
When to contact the press office:
- If you have been contacted by a journalist
- If you have had a paper accepted for publication
- If you are working on a press release with your university press office about MRC funded research
- If you'd like help to prepare for a media interview
Researchers who receive MRC funding and have an upcoming journal publication, please contact us as soon as your paper has been accepted to discuss potential media activity. Once a journal paper has been published online it is unlikely that we will be able to publicise the findings widely in the media.
If you have an idea for a media story or would like to discuss any aspect of communicating your research through the media we would love to hear from you. A press officer is available 24/7 on our out of hours number (above).
For other press officers
If you plan to mention the MRC or MRC-funded research in a press release please let us know before you have drafted the release so that we can provide any necessary input into the release and coordinate cross-posting on our website, Twitter, etc. It also helps us be prepared if we get calls from the media on the subject.
