This breadth of activity intersects a large number of MRC’s strategically important areas: experimental medicine, prevention research, stratified medicine, lifelong health and ageing, informatics, systems medicine and the methodology research programme (eg in relation to clinical trials methodology).

PSMB also leads on a number of long-term cohorts such as the National Survey of Health and Development (initiated in 1946) and areas of cross-board interest such as CFS/ME research.
