- I am a member of REF subpanel 5 until 2014 and also the REF equality and diversity panel. This pays an honorarium.
- I am a member of the Research Council of Norway MOL-1 grants panel. This will finish in September 2012, and also pays an honorarium.
- I am an editor for the journal Molecular Microbiology. This pays an honorarium.
- I am on the scientific advisory board for the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg, up until 2015. I don’t know if this pays an honorarium or not, I have yet to have a meeting

- Internationally I collaborate with Professor Rosemary Loria, University of Florida, USA and Professors Jan-Maarten van Dijl and Arnold Driessen at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
