Medical Research Foundation: Funding opportunities for researchers

Applications are currently being sought for:

Human herpes virus, post herpetic pain and reactivation

The Medical Research Foundation (MRF) is seeking applications from mid–career researchers to undertake research that will further understanding of human herpes virus infection (preferably varicella-zoster virus) and associated pathologies such as post-herpetic neuralgia and reactivation.

 

Alexander Fleming dissemination scheme – awards to support the dissemination of specific research results beyond the scientific press to policy makers, practitioners and the public in such as way as to encourage them to factor the research implications into their work (practitioners and policy makers) or lives (patients and the healthy population at large).

 

Intellectual Disabilities

The Medical Research Foundation jointly with the Medical Research Council invites high quality scientific research proposals in intellectual disabilities: risk factors affecting the trajectory of development and their impact on mental health outcomes and behaviour.

 

‘PsySTAR Summer School in Mental Health Research’

The second PsySTAR Annual Summer School in Mental Health Research will take place at the Royal Society of Edinburgh on 20th & 21st September 2013. The school is aimed at clinical trainees (FY1-ST4) interested in an introduction to cutting edge research relevant to psychiatric disorders. The topics to be introduced include epidemiology, clinical trials, neuroimaging, molecular biology, stem cell research and genetics. PsySTAR is funded by the Medical Research Foundation and the Medical Research Council.
