Women in Science: Nurturing Nobels
Date: 8 March 2012, 7pm
Venue: Science Museum's Dana Centre 165 Queen's Gate, South Kensington, London, SW7 5HD
On the centenary of International Women's Day last year, ten leading women life scientists and communicators were awarded a science heirloom by the Medical Research Council, which this year they will pass on to a group of excellent female researchers and writers in a bid to encourage them to make their way to the top.
Come and join Vivienne Parry, MRC Council member, to discuss why women win so few Nobel Prizes in science, and to meet the heirloom recipients and find out more about their fascinating research. Heirlooms were designed by students at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design inspired by jewellery worn by women during the suffrage movement.
Entry is free, although prior registration is required. Call 020 7942 4040 or
