MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology and Infection
Professor David Holden
Director of the MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology and Infection
The overall goal of the Centre is to be at the forefront of research on bacterial pathogenesis, with significant critical mass to cover major areas of scientific interest and clinical importance.
The Centre will provide a high quality PhD training programme and world-class environment for young academic and clinical researchers, underpinned by dedicated core facilities.
Centre scientists will collaborate extensively with colleagues in other institutes who have complementary interests and expertise. This work will help us to fulfil our scientific vision - that understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying pathogenesis and host resistance will enable rational approaches to the design of novel and effective vaccines and antibacterial drugs.
