The rising prevalence of obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders present a major public health challenge. The geographical and temporal distribution of these disorders suggests that they result from a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors that operate throughout life. The goal of the unit is to study the genetic, development and environmental determinants of obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and to contribute to the scientific basis of prevention.
