The MRC centre award started in January 2005. Research in the centre for Medical Molecular Virology, directed by Mary Collins, is focused on:
- Virus/cell interactions: identification and study of cellular pathways involved in viral infection and oncogenesis;
- Virus/host interactions: identification and study of pathways involved in viral immunity and pathogenesis;
- Translational research: learning facets of basic virology from clinical studies and applying basic knowledge to improve diagnosis and treatment.
