Summary

To provide well characterised tissue for research into dementia and neurodegenerative diseases particularly non Alzheimer type dementias such as Lewy Body Disease and vascular dementia.

Available Sample Types

Approx 1500 cases collected over a period of 30 years originally comprising one snap frozen hemisphere and paraffin embedded tissue as well as tissue in formalin. Due to the time span some of the older cases are already well used. There is some control tissue but this is in high demand.

DNA/RNA is available for some cases

Disease types/subtypes available

Alzheimers Disease, Lewy Body Disease, Parkinsons Disease (with and without dementia), Frontotemporal dementia, vascular dementia, MND, mitochondrial diseases, depression also collection of neurological and psychiatric rarities.

Sources of Sample Annotation

Newer cohorts have full associated clinical and research records, older cases often have limited clinical information available.
