Translational Research Group (TRG)
The Translational Research Group (TRG) is responsible for ensuring that support for translational research is strengthened across all the MRC's research boards and for overseeing implementation of the MRC's new translational schemes. This includes oversight of the novel developmental pathways funding schemes (DPFS), partnerships with major Higher Education Institutions and other funders, underpinning methodology and infrastructure funding through special programmes and initiatives, and ensuring suitable projects progress to late-stage trials in the joint Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation programme or more applied National Institute for Health Research activities.
The Chair of the TRG is Professor Patrick Johnston, dean of the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen’s University Belfast.
