Neurosciences and Mental Health Board (NMHB)

The Neurosciences and Mental Health Board is responsible for the MRC's programmes and funding in neurosciences and mental health.  It is also responsible for a number of strategic initiatives. The Board’s portfolio areas are: 

  1. Neurodegeneration: dementia, neurodegenerative disease, transmissible spongiform encephalopathies and other areas of neurology;
  2. Mental health and addictions;
  3. Neurobiology and development, neurophysiology (including pain) and neuropsychology;
  4. Cognitive and behavioural neuroscience; including relevant psychology and sensory function and disorders;
  5. Underpinning support including neuroimaging and brain-banking.
