2012 Queen’s Birthday Honours for MRC scientists

The Medical Research Council (MRC) congratulates the following people on their recognition in the 2012 Queen’s Birthday Honours list:
Professor Janet Thornton, Director of the European Bioinformatics Institute and former scientist at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research.
Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to Bioinformatics
John Jeans, Chair of MRC Technology and former MRC Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive.
Order of the British Empire – Commander (CBE) for services to Life Science, Healthcare and Science
Professor Tak Lee, former Director of the MRC Asthma UK Centre for Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma and Honorary Consultant Physician and Allergist to the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Order of the British Empire – Commander (CBE) for research in Asthma and Allergy
Professor Julie Williams, Head of Neurodegeneration at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics and former Member of the MRC Neurosciences and Mental Health Board.
Order of the British Empire – Commander (CBE) for services to Alzheimer’s Disease Research
