Alert: Blood sample scam

An individual falsely claiming to represent the Medical Research Council (MRC) has been contacting women via email and Facebook requesting regular blood samples in exchange for financial remuneration. The individual, who is currently using the name Liam Ryan but may also be operating under different pseudonyms, notes the samples will be used ‘to train medical technicians’.
This is not a legitimate request.
If you receive any such invitation, please ignore it or get in touch with the MRC (corporate@headoffice.mrc.ac.uk). We would also advise against providing any personal information.
We have notified Facebook and will be taking steps to redress the issue.
