Innovation award for toxicology researcher

2 July 2008

Dr Emma Taylor of the MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Leicester has won an award for innovation in research from the European Chemical Industry Council.

The €100,000 Cefic LRI award is given annually to an early-career scientist. It aims to promote innovation in the fields of toxicology and ecotoxicology. Dr Taylor will use the funds to further her research on transgenerational effects – those potentially inherited from one generation to the next. Her work will look at how environmental toxins could affect men and whether these effects are passed on their children.

Dr Taylor will present her project at the Cefic LRI 10th annual event on 20-21 November in Brussels. Commenting on the award she said:

“This is a great opportunity to pursue a mechanistically orientated-molecular toxicology project that has direct relevance to human health and the European chemical industry.”
