MRC response to HFEA consultation: 'Donating eggs for research: Safeguarding donors'.
The MRC has submitted its response to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority’s consultation on ‘Donating eggs for research: Safeguarding donors’.
The consultation calls for responses on a number of issues regarding donation of eggs for research including:
- Should women be allowed to donate eggs for research as non-patient donors and/or as part of an egg sharing arrangement?
- Are ethical concerns significant enough to outweigh the research benefits of donation?
- Safeguards – are additional safeguards needed?
