UK-China Stem Cell Research Collaboration (registration for workshop open)
In autumn 2013 the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) will be launching a call for full-scale collaborative research grant funding. This follows the success of the UK-China stem cell partnership development initiative.
This forthcoming call for proposals will provide matched funding from the MRC and NSFC for significant 3 year research projects. The scheme will be focused on basic and preclinical research of relevance to the longer term development of stem cell based therapies for human disease and disorders.
To be eligible for funding, applicants to the scheme must demonstrate that they have an established productive collaborative UK-China research partnership, and evidence such as pilot data or co-publications will need to be provided within the proposals to be submitted in spring 2014. The purpose of this preannouncement therefore, is to provide sufficient time for interested groups to establish or develop the prerequisite working relationship.
Prior to the launch of the next phase of funding the MRC and NSFC will be holding a workshop in China in October 2013. The workshop will be primarily for the awardees of the partnership development initiative but will also be open to other researchers with existing collaborative partnerships.
UK based researchers interested in attending the workshop should contact:
