Final Report Guidance

In 2011 MRC migrated its existing Grants, Fellowships and Studentships from our legacy systems into the new Je-S/Siebel system. Unfortunately some grants were configured incorrectly with a deliverable for a Je-S Final Report which means that in some cases the PI/RO is being asked to complete both the Je-S Final Report and a Report for MRC’s e-Val system. This is not what MRC requires.

Je-S Final Report - MRC will override the requirement for the Je-S Final Report deliverable

MRC e-Val (now Researchfish) – this is the system used to collect outputs, outcomes and impacts information annually throughout the award and for several years after the award has ended. MRC requires that this annual return be submitted between October and the beginning of December each year, and does not require any extra information at the end of the award.

Some schemes (including some clinical and translational awards) will still require additional, specific final reports which will have been stipulated in award letters and/or terms and conditions. These deliverables should not be confused with the Je-S Final Report.

From the 9th March 2012 all Final Reports on the Je-S/Siebel system have been automatically waived and should not have been issued at all. Please note that there will be no changes in the annual submission of outputs information and PIs will continue to be approached to complete Researchfish (previously MRC e-Val) annually throughout the term of the award and for several years after the award has ended

Please ensure that Researchfish (previously MRC e-Val) returns are submitted on time (by 1st December each year), as sanctions will be applied in response to nil returns.

Please note that holders of NC3Rs awards WILL need to continue completing Je-S/Siebel Final Reports as NC3Rs do not use Researchfish.
