Stem Cells

Cells are the basic building blocks of all living things, including the human body. Stem cells are immature cells that can renew themselves and specialise into other types of cell. MRC scientists are trying to understand this process, with the hope that one day it will be possible to collect stem cells and direct them to form particular types of cell from which to grow supplies of healthy tissue.
