MRC e-Val (now Researchfish) data collection and compliance policy
MRC will contact principal investigators/ programme leaders/ fellows annually during the period of the award and for 5 years after the award has terminated.
The annual submission of outputs, outcomes and impacts information with be through the Researchfish system (previously MRC e-Val), and will be scheduled for October/November each year with the deadline at the beginning of December.
Researchers are not required to submit any extra information through Researchfish at the end of the award.
The PI has the opportunity to tell MRC that there will be no more outputs from a specific grant, and this will be flagged up in the system. This will need to be verified by the RO and audit trail of the request logged.
It is also possible for a PI to request the temporary ‘suspension’ of an award in Researchfish so that they are not required to submit a return for that year, for example due to maternity leave, long term sickness etc. This request must come from the University research officer, or Unit administrator, using this form: http://www.mrc.ac.uk/Utilities/Documentrecord/index.htm?d=mrc007186
Researchfish compliance
Compliance is the submission of an appropriate return in Researchfish when requested within the specified period as described above. If
If the required Researchfish return is not submitted on time MRC may apply the following sanctions: a non-compliant grant or fellowship award we propose to:
- the principal investigator may be unable to apply for further awards from MRC
- payments for the award may be withheld
MRC Units do not fall within this compliance process, at present the responsibility for compliance lies with the Unit Directors and is part of the annual DASIC return.
