Influence on policy - MRC e-Val 2010

 

The MRC has an exemplary record of contributing to a sound evidence base, ensuring that public policy decisions and health interventions are based on research of the highest quality; MRC e-Val collected information on 1,690 instances of MRC-funded research either influencing a policy-setting process (1,300 reports) or receiving citation in an important policy document (390 reports).

 

This section highlights examples of where MRC-funded research has led to a change in government policy, updated clinical guidelines on recommended treatments, or contributed to the future training of practitioners or researchers.

 

The impact of MRC research extends across the spectrum of human health from informing the prevention of disease, through to the screening and diagnosis of illness and the development of new kinds of treatments.
