Nutrition and metabolism

Obesity is one of the greatest threats to public health in the UK. There is strong evidence that diabetes, which is rapidly increasing in prevalence, is caused by being overweight and obese. MRC researchers, from molecular biologists to stem cell scientists to diabetes clinicians, are trying to find out why obesity and diabetes have become so common in recent years and how they can be prevented and treated.
