Cancer

Cancer is a widespread problem throughout the world. Lung cancer – the most common cause of cancer death in men and women – and its link to smoking are important areas of study for MRC researchers. Leukaemia, a cancer of blood cells, accounts for around a quarter of all childhood cancers. MRC-funded trials in childhood leukaemia over several decades have led to massive improvements in survival.
