Standards For Liquid Nitrogen Supply: Systems For Life Science Applications
The MRC Safety, Security and Resilience section and CryoService Ltd have published new guidance on the use of liquid nitrogen, including guidance on installation.
We provide copies of the new publication directly to all MRC establishments that make use of liquid nitrogen. Copies for non-MRC establishments can be obtained from CryoService Ltd.
Further information can be found in the Press release
The publication is the result of a long, constructive collaboration and provides detailed guidance aimed first at the user but also, significantly, to installers of liquid nitrogen systems. The document therefore represents a New Standard that should be applied to all new or refurbished facilities.
Existing facilities should be risk assessed to ensure they are suitable and provide adequate protection for staff. If there is no significant risk of harm, then upgrades can be made as part of planned maintenance and refurbishment.
