Structure
Our governing body is the MRC Council, which directs our scientific strategy and corporate policy. The Council is led by our Chairman, Donald Brydon, with MRC Chief Executive, Sir John Savill, as Deputy Chairman. Four MRC Research Boards decide which scientific proposals the MRC funds, while our Training and Development Board distributes funding for training scientists.
The MRC Management Board (Head office, London), is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation. The MRC has an affiliated company, MRC Technology, which works with industry to translate our scientists’ discoveries into new treatments and technologies. We have an independently managed charity, the Medical Research Foundation which receives funds from the giving public to support medical research.
