Chief Operating Officer - John Jeans

 

 

John Jeans was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive of the MRC in January 2009.

 

As Chief Operating Officer, John has responsibility for the MRC’s operation as well as major infrastructure projects and is the Chairman of MRC Technology. He is also a non-executive Director of Myconstica, a development stage in vitro diagnostics company.

 

Prior to joining the MRC, John was Chairman of GE Healthcare Ltd and President of GE’s Life Sciences Commercial Operations. His career in the international healthcare industry spans over 36 years and he has worked for a number of companies including Smith & Nephew, Bristol Myers, Johnson & Johnson and Amersham plc (now GE Healthcare). John’s experience ranges from medical devices and pharmaceuticals to in vivo and in vitro diagnostics encompassing research, product development, manufacturing and commercialisation.

 

An active participant in industry associations, John has held executive posts in both BIVDA (British In Vitro Diagnostic Association), EDMA (European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association) and is a past President of AIPES (Association of Imaging Producers and Equipment Suppliers). He has also been an editorial contributor to the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine on industry matters and has served on various Government and clinical bodies, including the Co-Chairmanship of a Ministerial Committee on Medical Technologies.

 

John has degrees in chemical engineering and industrial science, and is a Chartered Engineer.
